World First Classic Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros

Only a few hours after posting about the World First Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros crafting, it seems that there was another candidate for first place. Chinese player LongDD laid claim to the legendary weapon four days before <Senseless> got their hands on the mace. Due to the nature of Classic, it’s a little difficult to track the various World Firsts, meaning the 17th September forging flew a little under the radar.

To commemorate the event, LongDD even posted a YouTube video, showing the construction and celebration of this truly legendary weapon. Congratulations to LongDD for the World First Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros!

We just recently reported on how to craft a Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros legendary mace. Gathering the materials is no small feat, and usually the effort of a collection of players or an entire guild. The World First Eye of Sulfuras dropped for the guild <Venture> from Flamelash EU, but the guild <Senseless> from Firemaw EU has become the first guild to grind out for Ragnaros’ iconic weapon.

It’s impressive that the guild and its new wielder, Kembria, could manage to acquire all of the relevant materials in a relatively small amount of time – particularly because of the 3% drop rate for the Eye itself. Reportedly, Kembria was able to shop around for all but one of the Sulfuron Ingots at around 400-500 gold each. With more and more guilds able to dive into Molten Core on the server and decimate Golemagg the Incinerator for the precious ingots meant the Firemaw Auction House was stocked for Kembria’s shopping spree.

Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros – Hearthstone

While some are accusing <Senseless> of exploiting layering or even using the server-wide raid resets to their advantage due to the scant supplies of Sulfuron Ingots. There is however no indication of foul play, and Firemaw is an active server and 3-4 weeks of grinding is plenty for the materials to become available and the World First was only a matter of time.

So congratulations are in order for Senseless and the warrior Kembria! While whether or not the mace is the best weapon for warriors in Classic is still very much up for debate – everyone must agree that it is a symbol of dedication to Classic as a whole and will serve its wielder well.
