This week we are going through lore behind the Legendary Hammer, Val’anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings, and why it is Legendary.
After the creation of the universe, many worlds came into existence. Within some of these worlds, the spirits of the Titans were forged.
The Titans, also known as the makers, the travelers, or the Great Ones, are a race of extremely powerful, majestic creatures, akin to gods. These giants traveled across the cosmos, bringing order to worlds. Many believe them to simply be a progenitor race. Unlike most creatures, titans are made of primordial matter from the evolution of a world-soul into magical sentience.
Sargeras, the creator of the Burning Legion was one of the first titans who awoke in the universe.
Eventually, the titans decided to create a new form of creature called the Earthens.
The Earthens are a prototype race of humanoid creatures consisting of living stone, they were created in order to help the titans shape the world of Azeroth. The first Earthen created by the titans was Urel Stoneheart which was the first Earthen king.
After his creation, the Earthen king received a powerful tool crafted by the titans, which was to be used in order to create and give life to the rest of his brethren.
The powerful tool was a mace of immense power, called Val’anyr, Hammer of the Ancient Kings.
The Earthen king, Urel Stoneheart, used the mace to create and give life to the rest of his brethren and used it as a weapon in the war between the Earthen and the Iron Dwarves.
Val’anyr was shattered into 30 fragments during this battle with all of them being lost in the conflict.
It is believed that the legendary weapon forged by the titans can be reforged and repaired only if all of the 30 fragments are collected and rebind using a unique acidic content powerful enough to rebind an alloy of titan origin which can be found inside one of the four Old Gods of Azeroth, Yogg-Saron.
