Cult of the Damned
After meeting with Ner’zhul and accepting the first mission from the Lich King, Kel’Thuzad returned to Lordaeron. He returned to Lordaeron in disguise and immediately started working on his mission.
Over the span of 3 years, using his sharp mind and intellect, Kel’Thuzad formed a so called “brotherhood” of like-minded men and women called Cult of the Damned. For 3 long years, Kel’Thuzad worked tirelessly, preaching his new religion for the new followers. He promised social equality and eternal life on Azeroth for anyone who joined the brotherhood. On the other hand, it was asked for their service and obedience to Ner’zhul.
During this time, the cult grew more in numbers. Tired laborers of Lordaeron joined, men in position of power joined, all different kinds of people. Eventually, many of Loraderon’s towns were under full control by the cult.
The cult was slowly working on the plan to take over Lordaeron. They began creating portable artifacts called Plague Cauldrons. These artifacts contained all the plague combined with dark magic and energies from the necromancers.
Ner’zhul ordered the cauldrons to be transported and hidden to various Lordaeron cities that are under the control of the cult. Each cauldron is guarded by a loyal cultist ensuring that everything works under control. Meanwhile, the cauldrons acted as a plague generators, contaminating almost all of Lordaeron in a very fast manner.
The Lich King’s plan worked perfectly. Lots of villages were almost immediately affected, turning the people into Ner’zhul’s army. Kel’Thuzad didn’t fail his master and he executed the mission perfectly. As a result, he oversaw process of fast growing army of zombies. On the other hand, Ner’zhul was plotting his next move as a part of his masterplan.
War of the Undead
Kel’Thuzad relocated to a town named Brill. This is where Kel’Thuzad first started his experiments with the plague. However, what Kel’Thuzad didn’t know is that the Prince of Lordaeron, Arthas, alongside with Jaina Proudmoore started investigating.
During the investigation, their path led them to Brill where Kel’Thuzad currently was. Arthas and Jaina entered the town and got quickly surrounded by a large mass of zombies. They managed to get through them but fast. Meanwhile, Kel’Thuzad managed to escape from the town.
Quickly relocating in a place named Andorhal, Kel’Thuzad knew he is safe for some time. However, Arthas and Jaina were rushing after the necromancer who was behind the plague. Kel’Thuzad knew he is being chased down and this time he had no intentions of running away.
With Arthas and Jaina finally catching up, they entered Andorhal and found the person responsible for all this. Kel’Thuzad was calmly waiting for the prince to arrive. Most importantly, this was part of his plan and his mission.
Arthas, in rage, killed Kel’Thuzad for what he did to Lordaeron and his people. Just a moment before he died, Kel’Thuzad told Arthas that his death would mean little. But they were not finished yet …
