How to prepare for an expansion: Physical and Mental Training

World of Warcraft is a game that has been up and running for 15 years as of writing this article and it is showing no intention of slowing down. With the seventh expansion slowly creeping to its end, there are already numerous potential expansions on the horizon and we can bet that Blizzard will surely be following through with at least a couple more of them. This is why this article will be providing you with a few tips on how to prepare both mentally and physically for a new expansion pack so without further ado, let’s get straight into it.

1. Eat healthy food
When a new expansion comes out, you would be wise to have a steady supply of food which will last you for at least a few hours or until you are planning on stepping away from the computer again, however, it is not just the size of the supply that is important, but also the quality of it. While you would probably enjoy eating pounds of chocolate, salty snacks and fast food, it would probably be wise to avoid all of them. Most of these types of food contain a lot of sugar in them which will make you feel energized for a while but will make you crash down relatively quickly which is something that we want to avoid if we are planning on playing WoW for the next few hours. Well-balanced meals which contain different fruits and vegetables, pasta and even eggs are much healthier alternatives and will definitely provide you the energy that you need to play longer.

2. Stay hydrated
Another issue that players might be facing when planning long gaming sessions is the issue of becoming parched. It is only natural that one would become thirsty after gaming for a longer period of time but choosing the right drink on such occasions is very important and if you choose correctly, it just might add a bit of time to your gaming schedule. When it comes to choosing a drink, your best bet is fresh water, and while we understand that you might go for a soda, a beer or even an energy drink of some sort, in the long run, you would probably benefit more by just drinking water since other drinks that we mentioned tend to make players drowsy due to the ingredients they contain.

3. Get enough sleep
While our goal here is to get as much gaming time as we possibly can, managing our sleep properly is of huge importance when it comes to this plan. While we do want to stay up playing as much as we can, it is important that we maintain a proper sleeping schedule and allow our bodies to rest and recover so we are ready for new challenges the next day. Sleeping during nighttime and getting at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep will ensure that we are refreshed, energized and ready to face the threats of Azeroth every day.

4. Mental Stamina
Doing something for a longer period of time can become very tiresome and frustrating and playing a new World of Warcraft expansion pack is no exception to this rule. More often than not, you will find yourself doing tedious activities such as leveling a new character, raising your profession skill or even grinding certain mobs for a specific item. All of those tasks can become very tedious and cause players to space out and tire of the game really quickly. This is why it is very important for players to be mentally prepared which can be achieved by doing a couple of things such as, setting up smaller goals which you can celebrate when achieved and remembering past successes and finding motivation in them to push onward. Doing these things won’t make the game less boring but it will make the whole experience more bearable and less discomforting.
