After getting Mask of the Long Night,
If Stormwind Horrific Vision is active:
complete Mage Quarter for Mask of Dark Imagination.
If you find Mage Quarter hard you can complete Old Town.
If Leaden Foot madness is active, we suggest you take care clearing Mage Quarter elites.
You can clear both Lost Areas in one visit if your cloak level is above 11.
If Orgrimmar Horrific Vision is active:
complete Valley of Wisdom for Mask of the Burned Bridge.
You can also clear Valley of Honor if you want but its not suggested if you have a low legendary cloak rank, as Rexxar drain sanity much more than others.
You can clear both Lost Areas in one visit if your cloak level is above 11.
Faceless Masks Tips
Completing the Horrific Vision with 5 masks is a real challenge as you can’t make mistakes, so before trying make sure you are prepared (and have some extra vessel in case you failed). It’s suggested to do 4 mask (all masks excluding Mask of the Long Night) few times to get ready for the fifth mask.
Faceless Mask of the Long Night
The most challenging Mask is Mask of the Long Night, it will reduce your maximum sanity by 50% making mistakes much more punishing, especially when combined with other masks. You should avoid this mask unless you want to clear the Horrific Vision with 5 masks.
The sanity reduce does not affect Sanity gains, like Elite Extermination, and it is applied after Expansive Mind effect(Which increases your party members maximum sanity).
If your back level is above 12, you should not much problems with this Mask, but you can’t make much mistakes as they are now much more punishing.
Faceless Mask of the Burned Bridge
Mask of the Burned Bridge causes small void zones to spawn behind after you move. They always spawn behind you, so if you never get back, they can’t drain your sanity. The more people are in your group, the smaller the void zone is. You can take damage and sanity drain from group members void zones.
There are few times when this Mask become an issue in Horrific Visions, where you are feared or have no choice to stand on them as a result of madness (for example getting stuck in Split personality) or something else. The best thing to do to avoid the sanity drain is to never go back the way you came from. You can move in them for a short time before taking damage and drain your sanity, because their damage and effect doesn’t tick instantly but after a second.
The Void zones drain 30 base sanity which is reduced by your cloak level to around 7 sanity drain at max level cloak.
Faceless Mask of the Daredevil
This mask causes all sanity drain abilities to drain 400% more. The only spells that drain sanity are Elites spells, so you need to look out for them and care not to get caught. Mask of the Daredevil will have a huge impact if you are running Horrific Vision solo as some elites abilities cannot be avoided if you are solo, and thus draining much more sanity.
Example abilities that cannot be dodged are Inquisitor Darkspeak channeling spell, Agonizing Torment if you are solo, or Rexxar boars.
The best thing you can do to deal with this mask while its active is to avoid getting caught in AOE abilities of elites, and to burst them down to avoid some abilities. Rexxar is a great example of where this mask can go wrong.
Faceless Mask of the Dark Imagination
The mobs summoned from this mask is not that challenging as the enemies of the Void do not have that much health and will not cause problems. Beware they cast some spells that you need to dodge.
The only time Mask of the Dark Imagination causes real problem is when you want to cast your orb and they get you into unwanted combat. Be sure you use your orbs early (around ~300 sanity) to avoid this.
One other problem with this mob is, that it do not always spawn near your but sometimes away from you. It will also aggro any mob in its path and place you into more danger.
Faceless Mask of the Pained
This mask causes each zone to have one additional Madness effects. Mask of the Pained can cause bad combination of Madnesses, like Split Personality and Haunting Shadows. Each week the active madness and the madness added with Mask of the Pained changes so some weeks it might not be a challenge. Overall this mask can sometimes bother you, but it’s not challenging some of the others.
The main reason to use Masks for Horrific Visions, beside making the run more challenging, is the rewards and the most important one Increased Corrupted Mementos gained. Each mask increase your mementos gained by 20% which stacks to 100% with 5 masks active.
With the increased reward you can learn all Titan Research tree and buy [Gouged Eye of N’Zoth], [Black Dragonscale Backpack] or [Wicked Swarmer].
There are also cosmetic transmog rewards available for each mask after you complete the Horrific Vision with each mask.
There are some achievements associated with Masks in Horrific Visions which you can earn by doing objectives in the horrific vision.
The most notable Achievement is Mad World which requires you to do solo Horrific Vision with 5 masks active to earn <the Faceless One> title.
[Through the Depths of Visions] requires 4 separate achievements, and completing a horrific vision with 5 masks active is one of them. This achievement rewards [Black Serpent of N’Zoth] mount.
